‘Someone You Loved’, Lewis Capaldi’s Breakthrough Single Enters Top 5 Of Billboard Hot 100

After topping the U.K. Official Singles chart for a nearly unprecedented seven weeks, Lewis Capaldi’s ‘Someone You Loved’ enters the top 5 of the Billboard Hot 100 in its 19th consecutive week on the tally.

Currently No. 3 on the chart, it is the first top 5 single from a debut U.K. artist since July 2018. In addition, ‘Someone You Loved’ is No. 1 on the Hot AC Radio chart, top 5 on the Top 40 Radio chart and hit No. 1 on the U.S. Shazam chart for the fourth consecutive week. Worldwide streams of the track have surpassed 1.2 billion. Already certified Platinum by the RIAA, ‘Someone You Loved’ has now earned two million equivalent song units in the U.S. It is certified Platinum or greater in a total of 14 countries.

The Scottish singer-songwriter will perform on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” this Friday, October 4. When Capaldi’s sold-out North American tour heads east, he will appear on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Tuesday, October 8. He headlines Brooklyn Steel on October 11. Full itinerary can be found here.

Capaldi joined Alicia Keys during her six-song set at the iHeartRadio Music Festival to sing what Billboard hailed as a “beautiful duet” of ‘Someone You Loved’. The song is from Capaldi’s debut album, Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent, which is the fastest selling UK debut of 2019 with 90,000 albums sold in the first week. To date, it has sold over one million adjusted albums worldwide and combined global streams now exceed 2.3 billion. View ‘Someone You Loved (Official Video)’ and ‘Someone You Loved (Video)‘. The former features Capaldi while the latter heightens awareness of the need for organ donors and stars his distant cousin, Peter Capaldi, who portrayed the Twelfth Doctor in the iconic British television show ‘Dr Who’.

Last week, Capaldi released the four-track Bruises EP, which includes the album version of ‘Bruises’, plus a Live Orchestral Version, a guitar acoustic and the Steve Void Remix.

After Capaldi self-released ‘Bruises’ two years ago, he became the fastest unsigned artist to reach 25 million plays on Spotify.

Capaldi was hailed as a 2018 Vevo DSCVR Artist To Watch and a 2019 Vevo LIFT Artist, longlisted for the BBC Sound Of 2018 Poll, and won Breakthrough Artist of the Year honors at the Scottish Music Awards. He was nominated for the BRIT Awards Critics’ Choice award and named an MTV UK PUSH Ones To Watch artist. Capaldi has toured with Ed Sheeran, The Killers, Bastille, Rag’n’Bone Man, Niall Horan, and Sam Smith, and performed at such festivals as Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Firefly, Mountain Jam, Splendour in the Grass, Fuji, and Osheaga.
