Rachael Sage has never been an individual or artist to shy away from frankly telling the truth candidly, directly and sincerely over the course of her impressive career. Sage’s latest single ‘Bravery’s On Fire’ is as frank as ever, as she utilises her platform to promote her honest first-hand story of overcoming endometrial cancer, admirably with 100% of the songs profits going to a plethora of cancer research charities, as she has come out fighting on the other side and simply wanting to share her poignant story.
Rachael started to pen the lyrics to ‘Bravery’s On Fire’ while navigating the often overwhelming whirlwind of surgery, chemotherapy and radiation all at once. Talking of her time taking on songwriting whilst receiving vital treatment, Sage says,
“It was the most humbling and challenging mountain I’ve ever had to climb. I went on a very internal journey to summon strength I never knew I had.”
The track itself hugely considers the courage and resilience endured in the face of one’s internal struggles, subsequently making the important decision to make ‘Bravery’s On Fire’ her very first recording following her critical recovery process.
“The song is about finding the courage to admit one’s own vulnerability and fragility, which can be very challenging for anyone, let alone a performer, to embrace.” Sage states, regarding the track’s lyrical themes.
Co-produced with the Grammy Award winning Andy Zulia, the track also features illustrious longterm musical partnerships between Dave Eggar (Phillip Phillips, Evanescence) and Doug Yowell (Suzanne Vega), with special guests Rebecca Loebe and Grace Pettis of Nobody’s Girl giving their craft to such a stunning song.
For Sage, the respectable work off the back of ‘Bravery’s On Fire’ doesn’t stop at the single’s release on October 4th 2019. Rachael Sage & The Sequins are set to perform at a duo of benefit shows in New York throughout this Autumn. It seems Rachael Sage is ready to make music again, with her raw honesty and artistic integrity shining brighter than ever on ‘Bravery’s On Fire’.
