Irish Alt-Pop Four-Piece Soda Blonde Announce Debut EP ‘Terrible Hands’ Out 8th Nov PLUS UK/EIRE Live Dates – Title Track Out Today

Dublin alt-pop band SODA BLONDE have announced their debut EP ‘Terrible Hands’ for release on Nov 8. The title track, their second single, is out now.

The ‘Terrible Hands’ EP will be released on the first date of the band’s new 8-date UK and Ireland tour, which starts on November 8 in Waterford, and taking in Cork, Galway, London, and Manchester, Limerick and Belfast, before wending their way home to a performance at Whelan’s in Dublin. This is the first time the band will have played in the UK, and more dates are expected to be added to the tour.

Soda Blonde are fronted by singer-sonwriter Fay O’Rourke, and also include Adam O’Regan on keyboard and guitar, Donagh Seaver O’Leary on bass, and Dylan Lynch on drums. The group rose up from the ashes of the much missed Irish band, Little Green Cars.

While maintaining the integrity established by Little Green Cars, Soda Blonde’s sound is a distinctively different one, which weaves together seamlessly influences from Fleetwood Mac, Little Dragon, Bat For Lashes, and Kate Bush. The final result is an alt-pop sound which is both dreamy and enticing.

Soda Blonde’s debut single, ‘Swimming Through The Night‘ was released in June this year, and saw the band hit the ground running with a launch at legendary Dublin venue, The Grand Social. Watch the video below:

Irish music bible Hot Press described the track as,

“a striking conceptual world in which the music inhabits… O’Rourke’s powerful and hauntingly unique vocal combines with impactful, atmospheric grooves to create pop music that is both emotionally affecting and incredibly satisfying.”

The ‘Terrible Hands – EP’ was produced by the band at their Dublin HQ, with all songs written by Fay O’Rourke over a period during her early 20s. Her unique lyrical style has been called “gritty kitchen-sink realism”, and she has drawn comparisons to both Karen Carpenter and Annie Lennox.

Speaking of the new single, Faye said,

”In light of the times we live in ‘Terrible Hands’ was chosen as the title track for our EP. It touches on failed relationships, personal short comings and self discovery. It was written over a hugely transitional period for all of us and was nothing but joy to create. We’ve been busy preparing the new material for the last few months and are so excited to get to share them to a live audience.”
