Velvet Code – ‘Mary Offered Ladybugs And Love Yous’

Velvet Code is more than just a cool name. He’s a Toronto-based artist who in life knows that the best thing you can ever be is yourself. His previous releases, ‘Get Outta My House’ – peaking at #19, while staying on the Billboard Dance Music Chart; and his legendary hit, ‘Say You Love Me’, which saw play on The Hills, and Jersey Shore.

The Electronic Dance Music DJ/producer and songwriter has also found time in his life to design and manage a clothing line, with the proclamation, ‘You Do You’, emblazoned across all his merch. It’s the perfect statement for the passion, the uncompromising individuality, the bravery required to establish the kind of career he has so quickly.

Velvet Code’s new single, ‘Mary Offered Ladybugs And Love Yous’ sounds like a throwback to the free love psychedelic 60s, but that’s where the similarity ends. It’s got timeless songwriting and melodies, and it brings together people of all walks of life, and fans of all genres, while the synth pop and incredible production – performed by Velvet Code – make it an instant classic. It’s a modern take on the likes of 1980s pop tracks by the likes of Depeche Mode,  and Erasure, while adding in the atmosphere of artists such as Goldfrapp, and Muse.

‘Mary Offered Ladybugs And Love Yous’ is the second single from his sophomore album, ‘Dreamer’, and released through AMG/Sony Music Entertainment in collaboration with Wendy Starland, who is known for discovering, and further developing Lady Gaga.

The video for ‘Mary Offered Ladybugs And Love Yous’, takes an interstellar journey which sees Velvet Code on a tiny stage, a few feet off the ground, while he’s transfixed, seeing a future where everyone is offered love – and of course, ladybugs. Below him is a pair diving, spinning, and careering around each other, in a choreography which matches the song’s complex, yet warm layers. Portraits of heroes of equality and bravery, some of whom have personal importance to Velvet Code, flash across the screen, alongside CGI flowers. Velvet Code’s shirt says “Revolution”, indeed, we at once feel that if he can reach as many minds and ears as his song deserves, that’s exactly what might happen next.
