Singer-Songwriter Jerad Finck Reveals All About His Latest Release ‘Home’, Nostalgic Childhood Albums and What’s Next on The Cards For Finck

Polly Havelock spoke to electronic pop-rock artist Jerad Finck to find out about his recent single ‘Home’ and when fans can eagerly anticipate new music.

Hi Jerad! So, you’ve just released ‘Home’ – can you tell us what inspired you to write the track?

This track was one that was especially important to me personally.  Sometimes it’s easy to get lost in the mix and lose your path so having to remember why one begins in the first place, or where one comes from is everything. Essentially, no matter how far out you get, there is always a way back.

Did the lyrics or the melody come to you first?

Melody is usually always the thing that I hear first, it’s a feeling that communicates without words.

How was it working with Steven Solomon?

Steven Solomon has been my collar partner for a couple years now, and I still think he is maybe the best producer in music.  I have learned so much from him, and we just work so well together.

What is the first album you remember listening to as a child?

Haha, my Mom brought me home two tapes, The Beach Boys “Kokomo” single and The Fat Boys.  Crazy beginnings I know.

Who have you been influenced and inspired by?

I’m currently REALLY into Toro Y Moi.  I think he is doing next-level stuff and is really on the front of the production and writing game.

When did you decide that you wanted to pursue a career in the music industry?

I always wanted it to be my full-time career.  I don’t know that I ever decided, it’s just part of who I am.

Are we going to be able to hear you live anytime soon?

I have my whole album finished, I’ve been working on this for the better part of two years and I am just so excited to get it out, and proud of the work that we all did together.  It’s really something special.

Finally, can you give us any hints about what you’re planning next?

MORE MUSIC! I am definitely diving deeper into this analogue electronic alt-pop world that I’ve been dabbling with, and it’s just infectious.  I feel like I’ve found my voice.
