Neko Deshawn – ‘Too Much’

Neko Deshawn is set to make a huge impact on the rap scene with his debut single and video, ‘Too Much’. He channels a jazz ethos through brass-tinged instrumentals, while harnessing an unapologetic realism via direct delivery.

From Saint Paul Minnesota, Neko Deshawn’s song, ‘Too Much’ examines the busy-ness of life, and how the responsibilities of our day to day activities can pile up and become seemingly overwhelming. In the song, Deshawn outlines his frustration at being unable to achieve peace of mind because of everything that’s needed to be done *RIGHT NOW*, and he pleads for the return to tranquillity with the line,

“Shut the fuck up please, I need some silence.”

‘Too Much’ is the lead track from Neko’s debut EP, ‘The Year 8088’. In the video we take an inside look at his average day and the commitments he has. Starting in bed, the clip follows Neko from place to place, while he engages with the different people in his world. At no time is he able to stop and chill; the camera swiftly moves from scene to scene, accurately conveying the utter exhaustion experienced by Deshawn. Eventually he collapses to the ground, the only way he’s able to get the rest he needs.
