‘A Shaun The Sheep Movie: Farmageddon’ Is Fun For Young And Old

Landing in cinemas across UK and Ireland on October 18, just in time for the half-term holidays, ‘A Shaun The Sheep Movie: Farmageddon’ is a brilliant release from Aardman Animations. A film which is fun for all ages, we asked one of our teen film critics, 16 year old MPH, to let us know what he thought, after he saw the film earlier in September.

Going into the movie, I expected a fun, lighthearted film, aimed at kids. My expectations were kind of low. When I saw the movie however, I was immediately gripped by the animation style and plot.

‘Farmageddon’ started with an image of the characters having fun, and a lot of the jokes worked. The stylistic choice of not having the characters speak English ensured that this film will work no matter who watches it; the only exception is when the songs are played, and even then, these have a great impact regardless of having their lyrics in English.

Multiple storylines are expertly crafted, all with well-timed, working jokes. The final scene, in which all of these storylines converge, took some unexpected, yet welcome twists.

The moments shown in the trailer work much better in the film itself.

‘A Shaun The Sheep Movie: Farmageddon’ is produced by Aardman Animations, and directed by Will Becher and Richard Phelan, in their directorial debuts. The stand alone film is the sequel to ‘The Shaun the Sheep Movie’, which was released in 2015.
