Aurora Kuda – ‘Ma Quale Grande Amore’

Taking inspiration from the rhythm and sensuality of Jennifer Lopez, the melody of Julio Iglesias, and the charisma of Madonna, Italian singer songwriter Aurora Kuda brings a whole new meaning to Latin music, with her single, ‘Ma Quale Grande Amore’.

Living with her family in Civitanova Marche, a city overlooking the sea that is sparkling, dynamic, and radiates positive energy, Aurora Kuda puts her feelings, passions, and even fears of the people she meets every day into her music.

Describing her music, she says,

“With my songs, I try to photograph this honestly and transparently, I wish they were a drop of clean water for our soul.”

Her debut single from the album of the same name, ‘Vivo Persa’, was released in March this year, and its success surprised even Aurora herself when it was broadcast on radio and TV.

Her latest single and video, ‘Ma Quale Grande Amore’ (Italian for “But What Great Love”), found its origins in front of a burning fireplace on a cold winter’s day. It’s not about a grand romance, but rather it was written as she thought about a friend of hers who was having a tormented, tumultuous affair which was not true love. She took pen to paper, and heard the music as soon as she picked up her guitar.

Aurora Kuda teamed up with previous collaborator, director Paolo Galassi, for the video, which was shot at Monte Conero Park in Ancona, Italy. ‘Ma Quale Grande Amore’ tells the story of a woman who works as a private jet pilot, but at home, lives a troubled life thanks to her man’s (played by Antonio Sticchi, multifaceted artist and frontman of the band No Pretes), lack of attention. Finally, she realises she’s had enough, and she says so; the passion has faded away, and the love is no more. Despite the gorgeous, exotic setting, this is by no means a romantic story.
