Almost Owen Releases New Single, ‘We Out Here’

You’ll remember our previous review of ‘One Lucky Man’, by Almost Owen, back in June. The Boston singer, songwriter, and producer – a triple threat – returns with his latest single, ‘We Out Here’, released worldwide on July 23.

‘We Out Here’ is a summer track and a half, and as I sit sweltering in a 100+ degrees heatwave, it’s certainly the perfect match. In fact, Almost Owen designed the song to be blasted at beaches and backyard BBQs, so it’s no happy accident!

‘We Out Here’ is a song in almost two parts: fast and furious verses are paired with a laid back chorus; Almost Owen spits out the lines and is then joined by an almost choral backing vocal for the chorus. The song itself is a tribute to those lazy hazy days of summer, when it’s too hot to bother about sticking to the rules, and everyone’s up for a bit of hedonism – even if we don’t follow through, we’re all thinking about it. Almost Owen describes the song thus:

“a song about being king (or queen) of your castle…  even if that ‘castle’ is just your parents’ basement.”

‘We Out Here’ sonically recalls Miley Cyrus and ‘We Can’t Stop’ – there’s a lot in the lyrics to remind us of that song too; both are millennial anthems proclaiming that we’re not going to take just any old garbage served to us.

‘We Out Here’ seems set to follow in the footsteps of Almost Owen’s previous releases, ‘One Lucky Man’, and ‘One In A Million’, which have in the short time since their release already collected over 250,000 streams. The track has been mixed by legendary engineer, Dave Pensando, who is known for his work with Michael Jackson, and Beyoncé.
