From the very first note of his song, ‘Hard Time’, sweet-singing Jeremie Albino reminds us of the laid back and hazy tracks of Creedence Clearwater Revival. Smooth, modern soul, crossed with a folk-rock feel, it’s a song which will undoubtedly make you want to hear more from the artist who makes his home in the bucolic pleasant land of Prince Edward County.
Although born and raised in the middle of Toronto, Jeremie Albino set off for Prince Edward County at a young age, where he worked the land, absorbed rural ways of living, and found his true voice. His upcoming album, ‘Hard Time’, is set for release on August 9, and tells the story of his never-ending quest for personal freedom.
The title track is the third to be released from the album, following on from ‘Shipwreck’, and ‘Last Night’, both of which were met with critical acclaim, and ‘Hard Time’, with its unpretentious folk and blues sensibilities, should be equally praised.
Jeremie will be touring his album this summer across North America, and although he will be taking in a lot of major cities on his journey from the Atlantic to the Pacific, he’s also made time for the small towns to whom he owes his style, including Prince Edward’s County town of Picton.
The video for ‘Hard Time’, directed by Mark Klassen, shows Jeremie working as a mechanic, dreaming of an escape from the drudgery of overwork. He finds solace in his dreams, and dances his way through the final verse, addressing his lines to camera. It’s a fun clip and an upbeat song, and will appeal to just about everyone.
