JayQ The Legend Lets His ‘Body Talk’ With Latest Single

Taking his influence from the likes of Michael Jackson and Tupac, former US Marine JayQ The Legend, from New Orleans, creates music in his own personal style, which merges hip hop and pop, and has a dancehall vibe to boot. His latest single, ‘Body Talk’, comes ahead of his US tour.

Starting out in the church choir as a young boy, JayQ has always had a deep love of music. This experience allowed him to not only develop his already considerable vocal talent, but also work on his performance technique, skills which he has put to good use in his career. Coupled with this is his native city of New Orleans, a city with a rich history of embracing the theatrical and eccentric in entertainment, and it’s easy to get some understanding of JayQ’s style.

‘Body Talk’ is from JayQ’s debut EP, ‘JayQ4U’, and was co-written by JayQ alongside Grammy Award winner, Soko7, who’s known for his work on Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s song, ‘Drunk In Love’. ‘Body Talk’ examines the need for respect in a relationship; as JayQ sings, we understand that he’s feeling misused by his love, and asks that she talk to him and express her emotions. This is further illustrated by the music video, which sees JayQ in a club, with his lover, who is cavorting in front of him, irrespective of who else is in the bar. He asks that she simply show him respect in their relationship, and to not fight, or take his love for granted, and play him “like a fool”. “I’m like the pentagon – don’t negotiate with terrorists”.

JayQ will launch his tour with appearances at Midem Music Festival and the BreakOut Music Yacht Concert, in Cannes, France. Find out more here.
