Bruce Springsteen Drops ‘Tucson Train’ Ahead Of New Album ‘Western Stars’

Bruce Springsteen is set to release his latest album, ‘Western Stars’, on June 14.

The nineteenth studio album from The Boss, it’s his first since 2014’s ‘High Hopes’. ‘Tucson Train’ is the third single from the album, following ‘Hello Sunshine’, which he dropped at the end of April, and ‘There Goes My Miracle’, released May 17.

‘Tucson Train’ comes with a magnificent black and white music video directed by Thom Zimny, who also co-produced it with Paul McGuire. The song itself has a glorious Americana instrumental, all guitars, violins, horns, playing backed by a beat perfectly replicating the clickety-clack of the wheels on rails of an old time – presumably bound for Tucson – train.

It’s been five years since we’ve had an album from The Boss; 2014’s ‘High Hopes’ did exactly that, and crashed through the top of the charts in 10 regions, the best he’s done since 2009’s ‘Working The Dream’. On the strength of the first three songs from ‘Western Stars’, it feels as though Bruce is onto something great, it’s got a cross-genre vibe that is bound to appeal to the diehard and casual fan alike, and pick up a lot of new listeners along the way. Chart success by this stage is something that is neither here nor there for Springsteen, but it feels as though a few number one rankings would be well deserved. The Boss is back – but did he ever actually go away?
