K.O. Styles has been making music since he was 9 years old.
Born and raised in Jersey City, he followed in the footsteps of his older siblings and cousins, and listened to the likes of 90s rap legends, DMX, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Tupac, and Busta Rhymes. He discovered making music made him feel positive about himself, and so he took it to the next level, deciding to pursue music as a career.
With ‘Today’, K.O. doesn’t simply make music, but he invokes feelings and, in his own words, provides “answers to a lot of questions that some people my age would have.” ‘Today’ created and produced by K.O. himself, takes its inspiration from his real life experience of needing money, with the video even being directed by him, with guidance from his cameraman. He is open about the choices facing young people in day to day living, such as drug dealing in order to make money. It’s a dark song and video, but there is hope, and by K.O. giving a voice to those who have none, he is able to share their story:
“not everybody can admit to not having something, so I just thought I would be the person to display that.”
