Jameson & The Conditionals – ‘Wasting Your Love’

Jameson Wandling is well-known in the Portland music scene for his first-rate songwriting and oh-so-sweet singing. His latest release, ‘Wasting Your Love’, sees him surrounded by some of the best musicians in a town famous for its enterprising, idiosyncratic musicians, coming together as ‘The Conditionals’. ‘Wasting Your Love’ is the lead single from Jameson’s upcoming project of the same name.

Collaborating with Portland illustrator Amy Kuttlab, whose debut graphic novel, ‘Urstory’, was declared by contributors to Comics Journal as one of the best comics of 2016, the animated clip for ‘Wasting Your Love’ is filled with wonder, mystery, and wistfulness which The Conditionals have become known for.

Drawing his inspiration from Americana, folk, and classic rock, Jameson and The Conditionals nevertheless make it their own, with ‘Wasting Your Love’ a rock guitar track, with some psych elements which will catch you off-guard. The clip with Kuttlab’s illustrations is mesmerisingly colourful, with geometrical shapes and figures calling to mind for us those for Cat Stevens/Yusuf’s 1970 classic, ‘Tea For The Tillerman’. Kaleidoscopic images represent the changing seasons while jolly fairy folk cavort in the branches of trees; bees buzz around the bark, while further down, lovers gather at the base to collect the falling leaves.
