Nya – ‘Love You To Death’

We’ve been following Nya’s career for a number of years now, starting with her single, ‘Let Go’, back in September 2017, right up to her EP, ‘Southland’, which she released last August. Now she returns with new track, ‘Love You To Death’, with all the soul, passion, and presence that we’ve come to love from the singer who is originally from Florida, but nowadays divides her time between New York, and Los Angeles.

‘Love You To Death’ was composed by NYA, along with Brandon Sammons (who also produced it) and Kat Nielsen. NYA’s vocal resonance and range are put to good use, with her vocals soaring up the octaves, from the lowest of lows to the highest of highs.

The accompanying light vs dark split personality video was directed and produced by NYA and LA based model and photographer, Ira Chernova. We see NYA lounging about on soft carpets, while bathed in a swirling, dappled light. She looks at first as though she is dealing with unrequited love, but soon we realise this is far from the case. We quickly discover that there’s something more sinister going on as we see NYA lugging a shovel, along with rubbish bags, into the woods. What has she done? Her behaviour and body language betray her as an exhausted, jilted ex lover, and suggest that in the heat of the moment she’s done something she really shouldn’t have.
