Gold Dig ft. Mista Roe – ‘Situation’

Mista Roe has been on our radar for a couple of years now, and so we couldn’t knock back the chance to listen to his latest release, ‘Situation’, which is from his collaboration, the ‘Elevated’ EP, with Lubbock freestyler, Gold Dig.

Mista Roe and Gold Dig met ten years ago, but it’s taken this long for the pair to get together on a record: timing is everything. Last year the chance arrived, when Gold Dig wanted to revamp a new single, and so he called on Mista Roe. Twelve hours later they were in the studio, and rather than just the one single they’d initially planned, instead the pair recorded an entire EP from scratch, and had it completed within the fortnight.

‘Situation’ is a song about real love, the sort that you whisper to your loved one on a long walk; the one that you set to private, not shout to the rooftops. The video for the track was directed by Jeff Adair, who in his ten year career has established for himself a place in the world of short films and music videos, working with UGK’s Bun B; Grammy Award winning producer, Symbolyc One; Nipsey Hussle; Slim Thug; Yella Breezy; and Golden Globe winning producer, Slikk Muzik. He’s found his work featured on BETs ‘106 & Park’, and MTV Jams. For the video, he shows an intimate day in the life of both Dig and Roe, they’re spending quality time with their ladies, while their haters are just doing what haters do: judging about things they cna’t have. Dig and Roe are unfazed by it all, they’re instead focusing on the real stuff that’s going on. They’re showing their loved ones what really matters – that’s true love.

Gold Dig started freestyling back in junior high, and soon after released albums nationwide. His initial release, ”N My Own Lane’ sold out in a matter of weeks, and it’s true to how he is – he’s always stayed in his own lane. Mista Roe was a DJ, and inherited his love of the classics – Al Green, Barry White, Marvin Gaye – from his Dad. His 2017 album, ‘The RnB King Of Shreveport’ was the first nationally distributed RnB album from that city since Motown Records worked with Profyle, back in the 1990s.
