Cici-Rose’s ‘Don’t Take It Personal’ Is An RnB GirlPower Anthem

Cici-Rose is an up and coming Pop and RnB singer songwriter, whose style falls somewhere between Dua Lipa and Lana Del Rey. Her latest single, ‘Don’t Take It Personal’, a cover of the Lyrica Anderson original, is laid back yet strikingly captivating. ‘Don’t Take It Personal’ is out now through Auraphonic Records.

You’ve probably heard Cici-Rose’s work: she’s sung jingles for radio, worked in TV, and advertisements, and danced at events and in arenas in and around London. Cici-Rose has also done her time as a session musician and writer for other artists over the years, but the time has now come for her to make a name for herself with her own material and sound: she’s ready to take her place on the world’s stage.

Cici-Rose’s single, ‘Don’t Take It Personal’, is a radio-ready track with a sound that could equally find its way onto the dance floor. It’s very chilled and relaxing, which is where it draws comparisons to Lana Del Rey. Having said that, there’s a fair bit of positive feminism to the track, reminding us of Dua Lipa and her girlpower style. It’s a cover of the Lyrica Anderson song, released in 2017, but it’s been dropped down and given a more electronic styling than the original, giving it an even more seductive and transfixing element. We’re left on the edge of our seat by Cici-Rose’s voice; evocative and yet somehow elusive, we can see why she’s been in such demand as a session singer. ‘Don’t Take It Personal’ is a great first foray into solo work, and we hope it’s not the last we hear from this up and coming and extremely talented artist.
