Rhys Lewis Returns With New Single ‘Better Than Today’ As New Year’s Resolution To His Fans

Originally hailing from Oxford, but now based in London, 27 year old Rhys Lewis is a singer-songwriter whose songs are crafted with an emotional honesty and vocal maturity that go beyond his years.

Described by the London Evening Standard as writing “songs from the heart”, and tipped for huge things by The 405, as well as declared a sensation by Clash, Rhys Lewis has become known for dissecting his life experiences with an impressive honesty and bravery, giving a deeply personal look at his life through his songs.

‘Better Than Today’, released on the 4th of January, comes on the back of a whirlwind year for the singer, and is a New Year’s Resolution of sorts. In speaking about the track, Rhys said,

“We’ve been living through some pretty turbulent times in recent years. I wrote this song to ease my anxiety about the state of the world and remind myself that, whatever our differences are, whatever we choose to believe in, we all live with the same good intentions common, and we’re all hoping for a better tomorrow.”

‘Better Than Today’ also marks the start of a new creative chapter for the singer, who has taken on the role of producer for the first time, working alongside Adrian Glover, with whom he also co-wrote the track. Adding to the raw honesty of his music, ‘Better Than Today’ was recorded straight to tape in their South London studio.

Rhys Lewis has to date released seven songs and an EP, and is quickly catching the eye of both critics and fans alike on an international level. He’s toured extensively over the past few years, sharing the bill with the likes of Freya Ridings, JP Cooper, and James TW, which has seen him build a fanbase across Europe who queue overnight to be first in line for his electrifying headline shows, which have sold out from London, to Amsterdam, and Berlin.

Lewis has also had strong support from BBC Introducing, with whom he’s recorded two live sessions, as well as sung at a BBC Introducing show in London, and also, most impressively, performed on the British Music Embassy stage at SXSW 2018.

‘Better Than Today’ is a sign of great things to come for Rhys Lewis, and makes a statement, as does he, that there should be no holding back for this rapidly up and coming artist.
