Broncho – ‘Big City Boys’

Broncho deliver a unique blend of indie- and garage-rock which was recognised by Josh Homme of Queens Of The Stone Age as being exactly the right mix to support them on their ‘Villains’ Tour.

They’ve also opened for some other huge acts, such as Cage The Elephant, and Portugal, The Man. Now, following the realease of their third album, ‘Bad Behavior’, they’re moving up to take their place among the big names. ‘Big City Boys’, released late last Autumn, comes with a video which plays hard and fast with convention.

Broncho’s music falls somewhere between rock, punk, and pop – a weirdly natural blend something like what a collaboration between Bruce Springsteen and Marc Bolan might sound like. It’s a great sound, and it’s been recognised as well, with Broncho’s music finding its way onto the Cartoon Network, and their song, ‘Class Historian’, appears on the soundtrack for the 2015 film, ‘Vacation’.

‘Big City Boys’ is a light and airy rock song, with a 60s-70s feel. The accompanying video clip at first look seems to be about rough types – fighting, racing cars, gang fights. Director Richard Farmer’s clip however compels us to look a little closer, and we realise all the roles are filled by women, turning our expectations on their heads. There’s a theme of cherries running throughout the clip as well, see if you can spot them all!

‘Big City Boys’, and the ‘Bad Behavior’ album are out on Park The Van Records. You can find out more about Broncho online on their official website.
