The Essential Advent Calendar: December 13 – The Waitress Asks If ‘Somebody Mentioned Christmas’

Manchester based singer songwriter Ben Turner performs as The Waitress, and with thoughtful storytelling, combined with bursts of energy and intensity, creates music which is a seamless blend of folk, jazz, country, and pop.

His musical influences include Villagers, Damien Rice, and Jeff Buckley, and his songs, which either end epically or end on a dreamier note.

‘Somebody Mentioned Christmas’ is a great festive tune, with a video showing Ben playing his guitar and becoming more and more festive as the song moves on.

Turner became interested in music at an early age, and then after performing in a number of bands, formed his ideas for The Waitress, while based in Bristol. Now living in Manchester he’s establishing himself and plays regularly with various musicians and singers across the city in a range of venues and open mic events.
