Steven Graves – ‘How Long’

Singer songwriter Steven Graves brings his west coast roots to the table when he writes his music. Coming from Southern California he is able to channel the great folk rock artists of the 60s and early 70s, such as The Eagles, Graham Parsons, and Jackson Browne, among others. He combines it with a tinge of country, inspiring him to share the raw version of himself and his life.

His latest single, ‘How Long’, the title track from his new album, comes with it a lyric video which serves as the perfect visual complement for his musical journey. The clip transports the viewer back to a simpler, more compassionate place in time, by way of Super 8 footage. Innocence, hope, and discovery are all themes in the song, as well as scenes of friends and neighbours gathering as a community. Altogether they convey a positive feeling by way of nostalgia. There’s contemporary footage in the clip as well, blending seamlessly with the vintage. We see Graves himself delivering his soulful performance, pleading with listeners to slow down and take time to smell the roses. We’re all in this life together, and love is the answer.
