NODe – ‘S.O.D.A.’

In 2011 a group of musicians joined forces to create NODe, an acronym from the phrase, “Not Ordinary, Dead”. The Italian powerhouse of a band transcends genres, times, and influences, with a sound that blends indie, pop, punk, new wave, and darkwave, they’ve come together as post-modern pop, and their latest single, ‘S.O.D.A.’ is a good example of their style.

Comprising Johnny Lubvic, Karissa, Andrea Vinti, Massimiliano Mauriello, Stefano Marseglia and Roberta Arienzo, NODe’s music breaks ordinary stereotypes to which we may be accustomed, producing a whole new reality. They deconstruct and reinvent themselves drum-programming, fluorescent sequenced lines, catchy guitars, and unpredictable vocal harmonies. This creative process has introduced us to their discography including Tuning the Untunable (2011), Tragic Technology Inc. (2014), Human Machine (2016) and their latest addition Rcade. Inspired by the 80s, their latest single “S.O.D.A.” gives us all a taste of their high vibration through their perfectly balanced transversal euphonies and effective male-female vocalism.

The video for ‘S.O.D.A.’ is directed by Vincenzo M Cinefra, and opens with an arcade, complete with bright colours and intense lasers. The group are entranced by the “Vintage Vault”, and play a game which, unbeknownst to them, seals their fate. They drive their car into the unknown, letting the beat take them in an uninterrupted flow of entertainment, and sonic excitement. It turns out to be a freaky night however, as they drive into an abyss – it’s the end of the game – and hopefully just the end of their ride.
