Carly Rae Jepsen, the multi-platinum seller, Grammy, Juno, and Polaris Prize nominated, singer-songwriter, has today released her latest song, ‘Party For One’, through 604/School Boy/Interscope Records. Co-written by Jepsen, and produced by Captain Cuts, and HIGHTOWER, ‘Party For One’ is now available to stream and download through all digital retailers, and will appear on Jepsen’s forthcoming album, set for release in 2019.
‘Party For One’ features a video shot in New York City, and directed by Bardia Zeinali. Carly Rae will perform the track on NBCs ‘Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’, on November 5.
Speaking of the song, Jepsen says,
“To me ‘Party For One’ is an anthem of what it is to celebrate time with yourself, which is a hard thing for people to really enjoy sometimes, and it’s something I’m learning to do more and more. This song represents a lot of what this album is about for me which is romantic love but self-love too.”
Carly Rae Jepsen’s 2015 album, ‘E*MO*TION’, garnered her a host of rave reviews, with several outlets – including TIME, Entertainment Weekly, Pitchfork, People, Stereogum, Vulture, Complex, and Noisey – declaring it to be the pop album of that year. Among the tracks were the platinum selling single, ‘I Really Like You’. Jepsen followed up the album in 2016 with ‘E*MO*TION Side B’, released as a gift to her fans, who ensured it immediately rose to the iTunes Top 10.
‘E*MO*TION’ itself was the follow-up to Jepsen’s US debut album, ‘Kiss’, which featured her smash hit breakout song, ‘Call Me Maybe’: the track reached the number 1 spot on the iTunes Singles charts in over 47 countries, has sold over 20 million units worldwide, and is Certified Diamond in the US. In 2012 it earned Grammy nominations for Canadian Jepsen, including Best Pop Solo Performance, and Song Of The Year.
In 2014 Carly Rae Jepsen landed the plum lead role in the Broadway production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s, ‘Cinderella’, and later starred as the iconic Pink Lady, “Frenchy”, in FOXs four-time EMMY Award winning musical, ‘GREASE: LIVE’. Still more recently, Jepsen has voiced the character of Odette, in the award-winning film, ‘LEAP!’, which featured Jepsen’s song, ‘Cut To The Feeling’, itself hailed by critics as a top song for 2017.
