Ella Mai’s Self-Titled Debut Album Is Available Now

Ella Mai’s self-titled debut was released worldwide on Friday, October 12. Executively produced by Mustard, who also serves as Ella Mai’s musical director, the album is a freestyling voyage through the 23 year old singer songwriter’s world. ‘Ella Mai’, released through 10 Summers/Interscope Records, is available to stream and download via all digital retailers.

The album is the culmination of a huge year for the rising star, who this week features on the cover of Billboard Magazine. Born in London of Irish-Jamaican heritage, she rose to the top of the charts with the triple-platinum selling ‘Boo’d Up’, which made history as the longest running number 1 by a female artist on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay Chart. The title had previously been held by long-reigning queen of Hip-Hop Soul, Mary J. Blige. Latest single, ‘Trip’ also broke into the Top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100 last week, and is already certified gold.

‘Ella Mai’ features cameos from R&B vocalist H.E.R. on the girl’s anthem, ‘Gut Feeling’, while EGOT-winner John Legend guests on ‘Everything’, and Chris Brown features on fan favourite, ‘Whatchamalcallit’.

Ella Mai has had a huge week, with an appearance on NBC’s ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’, and the American Music Awards (AMAs), on ABC, where she was nominated in two categories, ‘Favorite Female Artist Soul/R&B’, and ‘Favorite Song/R&B’, for ‘Boo’d Up’.

Additionally, Pepsi have announced that Ella Mai will join the next wave of rising stars to be included in their Sound Drop programme. She was also featured in YouTube’s ‘Artist On The Rise’ campaign, and will wrap opening for Bruno Mars on the final leg of his 24K Magic World Tour at the Staples Center, Los Angeles, on October 26.
