Australian Singer/Songwriter Artist Ashley Iona Releases New Single ‘Leaving’

Set for release on October 12, Australian singer songwriter Ashley Iona’s latest single, ‘Leaving’, is an electric-guitar based track which showcases her smooth vocals.

The track was written by Ashley with the desire to put her thoughts into song, one which effectively encompassed the passion she exhibits in her live performances. She took the production helm for the single, which gave her the freedom to personally shape it in the way she desired.

Ashley’s success has been meteoric; a relative newcomer to the music industry she didn’t reveal her talents until 2011, when she moved to Los Angeles. From there she has seen a song which she co-wrote featured on a season finale for MTV show, ‘Scream’, as well as more recently, Ashley was chosen to be a finalist in the Australian UniSounds 2018 Competition. This saw her beat out 150 other performers, and receive 4000 votes from the public for her tracks.
Ashley Iona, whose vocals hae been compared to that of Florence Welch, and Alison Moyet, wrote the track after a tough breakup, the heartbreak with which she was struggling meant that making music became an escape. She lets us into her heart as she experiences the love and loss, and we are therefore able to relate to her journey of discovery.
Speaking of her decision to produce the single, working with guitarist John Romeo, Ashley says,
“I’ve always hired a producer, but then felt like by the end of the process, I was negotiating for what I wanted. I already knew how I wanted this song to sound, so I decided to ask Johnny if he’d help me make it.”
‘Leaving’ will be available on all major digital outlets from October 12. You can find Ashley Iona online on Facebook, and Twitter. Listen to more of her music on SoundCloud.
