Water District – ‘Dream With Your Eyes Open’

Water District brings you authentic indie pop rock with a modern emo twist. The Los Angeles trio infuse the indie rock sound of the 2000s with melodies and lyrics which take their inspiration from the likes of The Cure and The Smiths, and re-imagine the sound for a new generation.

Lead singer Tice Griffin was brought up in a SoCal artistic household with his mother is a painter, and his father was an original mod from the 1960s. He released his first demo at the age of 19 and then toured the West Coast shortly after. Water District came to him as an idea formulated while he was living in a van outside a studio, where he worked as a technician, and Griffin was consumed with a passion for pursuing his dream. He found other members, Erik Williams on drums and Ryan Scottie on bass, and soon after relased a demo album, an EP, and several singles, which have been met with critical acclaim.

The video for ‘Dream With Your Eyes Open’ is a definite nod to their pop rock influences, and shows the band on stage lit up by flashes of neon blue, pink, and green. It’s simple and yet elegant, allowing the song to take the attention of the listener.
