My Demons Galore – ‘Carry Your Own Light’

My Demons Galore have brought rock back to Brooklyn with their hard-hitting riffs, striking lyrics, and anthemic melodies. After a hiatus in 2017 they’re back with their latest single, the anthemic ‘Carry Your Own Light’, as well as a music video.

Consisting of Dan on vocals, Aron on guitar, and Serg on drums, the trio released their eponymous EP in 2016, complete with visuals depicting epic debauchery. Released in time for Halloween (of course!), they accompanied it with their first music video, ‘Empty Bottles’. The track was an instant success.

‘Carry Your Own Light’ is as much a triumph of the will as it is an anthem dedicated to those who struggle with mental issues. The band had parted ways with some of the original members and had to deal with emotional and personal issues themselves, which seemed to toll the death knell for the band. But MDG refused to give up. The clip for ‘Carry Your Own Light’ opens with a noose beckoning to the viewer to come view their world of chaos and self destruction. Panning out, then looking in, we break from the band to the distressed fans, while pulling hair, thrashing and screaming, we feel the chorus matching their complex emotions.  MDG have however mastered the balance between light and dark, and have ultimately made themselves whole once again.
