Images of Eden – ‘Shield Me’

Baltimore Maryland band Images Of Eden got together way back in 1988 and they paint a picture with dark colours and harsh truths which flow from a void of mistreatment and neglect. Their latest track, ‘Shield Me’, is effectively their dying wish as a band, to be seen as protectors for those who most need it.

Comprising Gordon Tittsworth, the founder of the band, on vocals and rhythm guitar, Carlos Urquidi Perez on lead guitar, L. Dean Harris on piano and keyboards, Eric Mulvaine on bass guitar, and Steve Dorssom on drums and percussion, Images Of Eden have put together a formidable discography over their nearly 30 years together, including their debut studio album, ‘Chapter 1’, released in 2001, ‘Sunlight Of The Spirit’ (2006), ‘Rebuilding The Ruins’, from 2011, and their latest, ‘Soulrise’, which came out this year.

The video for their new song, ‘Shield Me’, was directed by Steve D Dorssom, and opens on a dark blue shot, before introducing the main character, a teenage girl who is surrounded by a world of chaos. She’s kidnapped by the darkness; we see a shot of the band, who effectively swoop in with raging guitars and soaring riffs. The girl dodges the abuse inflicted by her mother. She lets her demons take over, but her guardian angel refuses to let her go. Images of Eden shield and protect her: a God-like presence.
