Alice Kristiansen – ‘Weightless’

New York based singer songwriter Alice Kristiansen first started in 2011 by posting covers of songs by the likes of Adele, Arctic Monkeys, and the Civil Wars onto her YouTube channel, while also playing guitar or piano. This led to her releasing her self-titled EP in 2014, while still only 18. Her biggest boost was the following year when Ashton Kutcher shared her cover of Taylor Swift’s ‘Wildest Dreams’ on his social media, leading to a surge in her popularity.

‘Weightless’ is one side of a double A release, the other side being ‘Saints’. Kristiansen’s vocals are a cross between Florence Welch and Lana Del Rey – the lightness and airiness of her voice is nonetheless strong.
