Lou – ‘Beaten’

Lou, from Los Angeles, started singing at a very young age, an only child in a musical household. She found sanctuary from the world, particularly when her parents separated, by retreating into herself, and channelled her feelings into writing. Lou had a life-changing moment which encouraged her to share her voice with the world.

Lou’s first single, ‘Beaten’ was released in April this year. The accompanying music video for the track was made with rising star director Eva Dolezalova, who captures perfectly the torment and emotion in Lou’s lyrics and music. The clip features sweeping shots of the beaches in and around Malibu, including some particularly evocative visuals under the world-famous Santa Monica pier. ‘Beaten’ was originally a poem written about abandonment and the need for self-reliance, and Lou’s sublime vocals are stirring, with complex layers.
