John Paciga and Charlotte MacMurray – ‘The Prayer’

New Jersey native John Paciga is known locally for his catchy, sharply written piano pop. His debut album, ‘Other Side Of Town’, was released late last year when he was 17, and for his latest single, a cover of David Foster and Carole Bayer Sager’s ‘The Prayer’, he’s joined by singer Charlotte MacMurray.

The pair met as fellow performers in the Delbarton Abbey Players theatre company, in their hometown of Morristown, New Jersey. The song they’ve chosen plays directly to their respective strengths – it’s a showstopping ballad, nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1999. The best known version of ‘The Prayer’ is probably the duet between Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion.

The video for the track is very simply shot, the duo on stage; John behind the piano, and Charlotte singing, with her crisp clear voice conveying the passion and beauty of the song.
