Faith Evans Ruch – ‘I’m Yours’

Faith Ruch got into music from the age of six, when she was charmed by the evocative nature of melody and rhythm. Although she fell in love with the guitar, she took piano lessons instead. Life got in the way and instead of following her dream of music, she became a nurse.

Fast forward to 2011, Faith no longer supress her first love and this Memphis native picked up her guitar and poured her heart out into her songs. She independently released her debut, ‘1835 Madison’, a country/folk style album, and the following year released her six track EP, ‘After It’s Said And Done’.

Love came to town, which saw Faith channel her feelings into ‘Mercy’. Sadly her relationship broke down a mere three days before she was set to record it, and Faith called her producer to cancel it. Soon after this setback, she developed a life-threatening condition, but was convinced by her longtime friend (and producer) Kevin Houston to come back after a while, to find peace with the pain in such a way as to allow her to love and finish the record she’d spent two years on. Returning to the studio however, she discovered the songs held new meanings, and so the project was re-framed as the experience of falling in and out of love. Adding some new tracks and tweaking some slightly, ‘Mercy’ became Faith Ruch’s second LP, ‘Lessons In Falling’.

‘I’m Yours’ is the lead track from the album, and it’s a soulful bop with a fun loving music video. The swing vibes and soaring horns will get people up on their feet and keep them there, while the deep lyrics will resonate with listeners on a personal level. The video shows a battle between Faith and a doppelgänger intent on causing mischief as she prepares for a performance. Somehow the show must go on, and regardless of the doppelgänger’s best efforts – and with help from an emergency kit (labelled, “In case of doppelgänger look here”), Faith manages to get free and onto the stage where she belongs.
