Liz Kennedy – ‘Everyone Knows How It Goes’

San Francisco based singer songwriter Liz Kennedy has teamed up with US music icon Taj Mahal to take us for a trip down memory lane with ‘Everyone Knows How It Goes’.

A stand out track on Kennedy’s new album, ‘Hike Up Your Socks‘, the lead single is a soulful and poetic narrative. The album applies a humanistic undertone, and speaks to the quintessential truth that the best thing you can ever be in your life is to be yourself. Produced by Joel Jaffe, who’s worked on all of other Kennedy’s albums, it’s a more rootsy album than her previous, and encorporates elements of rock, blues, as well as touching on Kennedy’s folk music fan roots from the 60s.

Liz brings a real legend to her album with three time Grammy winner, songwriter, film composer, guitarist, and multi-instrumentalist, Taj Mahal, who joins her on vocals as well as playing banjo on ‘Everyone Knows How It Goes‘, and harmonica on ‘Love Gave Me Away’. The artist received a Lifetime Achievement For Performance Award at 2014s Americana Honors, and even after 50 years as a performing artist, Taj Mahal shows no sign of slowing down any time soon.

The duet ‘Everyone Knows How It Goes’ is an unshackled and wistful daydream of youth, harkening back to the magic of rhe 1960s. It recalls the days of friends gathering together in a room, learning songs “with candles and wine”, and the video serve a sentimental yearning for those simpler times. Filmed in black and white, the video also includes photos from the past of both artists.
