Kristin Hersh Among First Names Announced For Robert Smith Curated Meltdown Festival

Meltdown Festival at London’s Southbank Centre celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, and has given the job of curating to The Cure frontman, Robert Smith. Among the first names to be announced for the festival, which will be taking place 15-24 June this year, is US singer, songwriter and guitarist, Kirstin Hersh, known for her prolific solo work, as well as that with alternative rock bands, Throwing Muses, and 50FOOTWAVE.

Hersh has also written a much praised memoir based on her teenage diary, about a particularly eventful year. The book is known as ‘Rat Girl‘ in the US, while in the UK it was released as ‘Paradoxical Undressing‘.

Kristin Hersh will be performing in the Queen Elizabeth Hall on Thursday 21 June. Tickets go on sale to Southbank Centre Members tomorrow, Tuesday 13 March and on sale to the general public on Thursday 15 March. See here for further information.
