The Essential Weekly Playlist of: Peppermint Heaven

We’ve had a good working relationship with Peppermint Heaven for several years now, and they even did an Essential Weekly Playlist for us back in 2016. The duo comprising Juno and Spark, based in Los Angeles, are strongly influenced by the likes of Tears For Fears, Pet Shop Boys, Simple Minds, New Order, Howard Jones, Psychedelic Furs…..among others – so it’s no surpise to see a few of those names turn up in their Essential Weekly Playlist.

NEW ORDER – REGRET
New Order is a big influence on Peppermint Heaven – from the melodic bass lines to the detached vocal to the flowing synths. We never get tired of this song!
TEARS FOR FEARS – MAD WORLD
Famously covered by Gary Jules for the 2001 film Donnie Darko, but the original is best. A main source of inspiration for the Peppermint Heaven sound.
HUMAN LEAGUE – FASCINATION
Synthpop pioneers at their best. The look, the beat, the attitude. Perfection!
STYLE COUNCIL – IT’S A VERY DEEP SEA
The haunting 80s classic from their underrated Confessions Of A Pop Group album. Paul Weller’s soulful vocals overlay a beautiful production. Timeless.
THE CRANBERRIES – ZOMBIE
Of course, we’re listening to this right now. One of the most powerful songs of the ‘90s. Need we say more?

EMPIRE OF THE SUN – ON OUR WAY HOME

Retro synth/pop is alive and well! Smooth as silk with hypnotic vocals and percolating synths. Great new track.

SUFJAN STEVENS – MYSTERY OF LOVE
Heartbreakingly beautiful.
FUTURE ISLANDS – SEASONS (WAITING ON YOU)
Powerful song – powerfully sung.
THE WEEKND FT. DAFT PUNK – I FEEL IT COMING
Uplifting, cool production with Michael Jackson-esque vocals and Daft Punk’s unmistakable touch.

BRUNO MARS FT. CARDI B – FINESSE (REMIX)

Fairly irresistible groove. We’re loving this new remix. Bruno Mars does it again!
PEPPERMINT HEAVEN – MONDAY MORNING
You can find Peppermint Heaven online on Twitter, Facebook and their website. Be sure to check out their previous releases on iTunes.

We no longer accept unpaid PR agency work. We believe the creative arts have value, and this includes writing. As always, we will write about artists who contact us - or who we contact - for free - but we can no longer work free of charge for PR agencies. We work hard, we put in a lot of hours writing, and we ask that you respect that. Contact us for our very reasonable rates.
