London-based vocalist, songwriter and electronic music producer Fifi Rong is back with her new EP, ‘Awake’.
Fifi is a pioneering artist who has organically integrated Chinese influences into western pop music. With roots in dark ambient electronica, the avant-pop songstress has the rare ability to glide across an eclectic range of influences, seamlessly blending them into her own trademark sound. She says,
“I like to challenge people’s musical taste buds and boggle the conventional minds that tend to pigeonhole things.”
Returning from legendary Swiss duo Yello’s seven-date arena tour of Germany, Switzerland and Austria as a special guest, the captivating live performer has contributed to Yello’s album Toy and Skepta’s Mercury Award-winning ‘Konnichiwa’. Fifi has also received strong support from publications such as The 405, Clash, The Fader, Notion, Pigeon and Planes, as well as BBC Radio 1 and 6 music airplay. Awake is the latest in a constant stream of independent releases supported by Fifi’s loyal fan base through Pledge Music.
After her critically acclaimed trilogy of singles (‘Future Never Comes’, ‘The Same Road’ and ‘The One’), Fifi continues to break new ground by taking listeners on a thrilling adventure with her playful versatility and her unmistakably melancholic voice, highlighting her deep, poetic lyrics.

” ‘Awake’ is about waking up to the truth after you have hypnotised yourself and deconstructing the paradoxes of human nature: subordination and rebellion, pain and joy, self-limitation and liberation.”
All songs were written and produced by Fifi, except ‘Attack’, which was co-written with Nick Ford. The title track ‘Awake’ was mixed by Max Dingel, whose credits include Goldfrapp, The Killers, White Lies and Muse amongst others. ‘Attack’ and ‘Horizon’ were mixed by Late Cambrian’s multitalented frontman John Wlaysewski, who has also worked with Tracy Bonham. ‘Sin City’ was mixed by Leandro Muñoz, who also mastered the EP.
