Bryan Fox – ‘I Saw My Ex-Wife Workin’ At The Bait Pro’

Bryan Fox is a whole lot of country and a little bit rock and roll. The Louisville, Kentucky native works as a dentist by day but music is where his heart lays, and he makes regular trips to Nashville and California to write and record music. Bryan’s song, ‘I Saw My Ex-Wife Workin’ At The Bass Pro’ was first released on his 2010 album ‘Big City Lights’, and six years later he released sophomore album, ‘It’s Gonna Be That Kind Of Night’. In 2017 he dug through his song catalogue to find the one which would lend itself best to a video: ‘Bass Pro’ leapt out at him. When Bass Pro denied his request to shoot the clip in their store, he decided to rework the song as a parody, and ‘Bait Pro’ was born.

Bryan Fox entered college with scholarship opportunities for both trumpet and academia; he followed the academic route and kept his music as a hobby. Once in dental school however he found himself in a recording studio with Hugo Ferreira, lead singer of rock band, Tantric. The pair recorded the song, ‘Yes’, which then took the #1 spot on Louisville rock radio station WLRS. This caused major record labels at the time to sit up and take notice, and although he’s not currently with a label, it gave Fox the incentive to pursue music on more serious, career level.

It wasn’t easy to find a shoot location for the ‘Bait Pro’ video, but after months of seaching, Fox found one of those mom-and-pop bait stores in Arkansas, as well as the right model to star with him. He enlisted three real-life stars to make cameos in the video: Michael Starr, lead singer of Steel Panther, makes an appearance in the yard with a hose; Nappy Roots’ Buffalo Stille plays the assistant manager of the Bait Pro store; and Conrad Bachmann, who’s been in films such as ‘Tremors’, and ‘The Astronaut’s Wife’, took on the role of the old man raking the yard.

It’s Bryan Fox’s belief that “music is supposed to encompass every kind of emotion” and regardless of whether his songs are introspective, poignant, or in the case of ‘Bait Pro’, rather irreverent, they always have something to say.

2018 is already shaping up to be a huge year for Fox, who while recently out in LA co-wrote and recorded a song with Michael Starr, called ‘Eye Candy’, and produced by Anthony Resta, known for his work with Tremble, Jared Dylan, My Silent Bravery, and Natalise + the Sunset Run.
