Blue Helix – ‘Anti-Social Butterfly’

Blue Helix bring together the two worlds of boxing and music in the new video for their song, ‘Anti-Social Butterfly’.

Seems strange to compare boxing and music but when you think about it, the two have a lot in common. Both require focus, repetition, and level of commitment that’s 24/7 all about becoming better than the rest. With ‘Anti-Social Butterfly’, Blue Helix, who hail from Puyallup, Washington, and Sao Paulo, Brazil, bring together the two worlds in a knock-down, drag-out musical battle royale.

Just about 12 months ago, Blue Helix burst onto the scene with the video for their track, ‘Aliens’. A lush, complex power ballad, it challenged the listener and stretched the minds of the viewers. With ‘Anti-Social Butterfly’ they bring back their strong and glorious harmonies and join the elements of vocals and guitars with a constant and very catchily steady drumbeat. Again, they confront the listener, this time with an anthem against bullying.

‘Anti-Social Butterfly’ is just one of six tracks from the new EP of the same name, and which has seen heavy rotation on 89.1 FM, the main rock station in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Moving on from their former sound of melodic blends of acoustic and electric music, Blue Helix have found their place with their raw, lean, right up in your grill modern rock sound.

The video for ‘Anti-Social Butterfly’ focuses on a boxing ring and gym as its primary location, with Blue Helix performing for the camera and an audience of music judges. Lead singer, Sami Chohfi, does his best to win them over, while the other three members of the band are scattered around the gym, in among the punching bags. The secondary location focuses on the story of a boy being bullied at school, and him taking his self defence into his own hands; starting out as a “90 pound weakling”, he takes on a gruelling regime of training and discipline, and transforms into a lean, mean, fighting machine. At last, he is able to stand toe-to-toe against his arch-nemesis, and as a result, he regains his pride and sense of self-worth.

‘Anti-Social Butterfly’ is available from Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, Amazon, Google Play, Hearnow, and Bandcamp. Find Blue Helix online on their official website, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
