The Rotten Mangos – ‘In Love with the Afternoon’

Psych rockers from Texas, The Rotten Mangos, have perfectly captured that hot summer afternoon feeling with their new single, ‘In Love With The Afternoon’.

Comprising vocalist and guitarist Ramiro Verdooren and drummer Cristian Sigler, The Rotten Mangos formed in 2013 and released their self-titled debut EP in 2014. Their sound is psych rock sweetened with pop hooks. After their first EP they released ‘Orange Sun Silhouette’ in 2015 on tape, and ‘It Must Be In The Air’ as a single in 2016. ‘In Love With The Afternoon’ follows their release schedule, with their debut LP, ‘Couldn’t Find A Word’, out on December 1. The duo will be hitting the road in the new year with a two week southeast US tour in support of their new album.

The video for ‘In Love With The Afternoon’ is a perfect visual representation of the song, and was shot by film-maker Vanessa Pla, using nothing but Super 8 film. Shooting this way ensured that the footage resembled classic film from 50 years ago, and further adds to the psych, Beatles-esque feel to the track. Further adding to the Sgt Pepper style are the animated scenes created by Amber McCall. It’s a fun and trippy pysch masterpiece guaranteed to give you the “warm and fuzzies”.
