Essential Advent Calendar: Martin Davis Releases Christmas Single in Collaboration with Malcolm Jagger ‘Christmas Won’t Be Christmas Without You’

Singer songwriter Martin Davis, known for his song, ‘Oak Tree Lament‘, which he wrote to bring awareness to the Stop HS2 Campaign, has released an upbeat seasonal song, ‘Christmas Won’t Be Christmas Without You’.

Martin says he takes his inspiration from George Michael’s up-tempo power ballads, and so with songwriter and producer Malcolm Jagger each playing to their individual strengths, they pair have collaborated equally. Malcolm provides the instrumental arrangement and Martin works on the story of the lyrics, as well as the melody top line. These are tweaked until both artists feel the track is ready for release.
Malcolm is a talented musician and multi-instrumentalist, and plays every stringed instrument on the track, building a strong foundation for the rest of the song. In addition to ‘Christmas Won’t Be Christmas Without You’, the pair have joined forces on tracks for Martin’s band, ‘The Mighty Stampede’, whose debut EP is set for release in early 2018.
‘Christmas Won’t Be Christmas Without You’ was recorded in Malcolm’s home studio and together he and Martin have a genuine, DIY ethos, through which their love for well-written and arranged songs shine.
