Essential Advent Calendar: Laust Sonne – ‘X-Mas Morning’

We’ve written about Laust Sonne several times before, but now the Danish singer songwriter, and drummer from iconic band, D-A-D (Disneyland After Dark) is back with a seasonal track, ‘X-Mas Morning’.

‘X-Mas Morning’ comes with a fab video, which opens with Laust on his acoustic guitar, accompanied by a string quartet. In the video for his previous release, ‘Sunday Morning’, he was seen longing for a particular woman – she’s back in short glimpses, living freely without him. As in ‘Sunday Morning’, her beauty shines through, and she’s dancing. Unlike that video however, a tale of heartbreak and unrequited love, this one is a bit happier. More than just a “Part 2” of ‘Sunday Morning’, this is both a musical and visual re-imagining of the track, and with just one changed word – Sunday for X-Mas – the entire tempo, mood, and meaning of the song changes.

The colour of this video is much warmer than the former – it’s more sepia tones and muted colours than ‘Sunday Morning’ which encorporates a lot of black and white. This manages to add to the more festive mood as well.

Find Laust Sonne online on SoundCloud, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and his official website. ‘X-Mas Morning’ is available on Spotify.
