MONET – ‘Love Me Tonight’

Brisbane-based artist MONET is a commercial film director and pop songwriter, whose culturally rich Chinese heritage colours his debut single, ‘Love Me Tonight’. The track was released yesterday, November 24.

MONET was first introduced to music at the age of five, when performing in the local theatre in his home town in China, Wujin. From there he went to create beautifully uncomplicated and piano driven pop music, with ‘Love Me Tonight’ drawing on his theatrical background and reflecting his fascination with current top 40 artists such as Adele, Lorde, and Sam Smith. MONET has coupled the track with a music video which he’s directed and edited himself, and starring another Brisbane artist, William Briskey, with appearances by MONET. The clip depicts a man tossed and turned by fierce ocean waves, and is a visual representation of the song, adding pictoral layers to MONET’s soundscape.

The track has been mixed by Simon Cohen, known for his work with Justin Bieber, and mastered by Leon Zervos (Maroon 5). It’s a full on pop ballad with MONET’s sweet and evocative.

‘Love Me Tonight’ is a beautiful taste of what is yet to come from MONET, who plans to release more music through 2018, as well as live dates.
