Coopertheband – ‘Rebels’

Five piece Coopertheband, from Jackson Tennessee, have had their music featured on HBO, ESPN, and the CBS crime drama, ‘Without A Trace’. Their latest album, ‘Kingdoms’, is their strongest yet, and has spawned their new single, ‘Rebels’.

Comprising Cooper Brown and Phoebe Scott, who share vocals and guitar duties (Scott also handles percussion), Joe Kyle on lead guitar, Matt Hammonds on bass, and Will Kwasigroh on drums, Coopertheband was founded in 2010, and have released three albums: ‘Ventures’, in 2010, ‘Kings’, in 2012, and now ‘Kingdoms’, released this year.

‘Rebels’ sees Phoebe Scott take the vocals, with her poised and powerful performance lifting the already exciting song. The track is paired with a fun video, directed by Riley Pope. It features the band playing the board game Risk, which then turns into a live-action paint battle in an open field. From there it becomes a live rock performance under blacklight, with the band members glowing luminously from the paint. The humorous clip sees the band becoming more and more covered in paint – flashing between battle ground and board game. Watch to the very end for the nod to serious boardgamers!

The track reminds us of Imagine Dragons and Needtobreathe, and memorable chorus stays in our head long after the song has ended. You can stream and download ‘Rebels’ as well as ‘Kingdoms’ from iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, and Tidal. Check out Coopertheband’s official website, where you can also buy their music on CD.
