Original Swimming Party Announce New Single ‘Biggest Curse’

Capetown-based duo Original Swimming Party have announced the release of theire new single, ‘Biggest Curse’, which featurs guest vocalist, Moonchild Sanelly. ‘Biggest Curse’ is from their upcoming remix EP, and will be available to stream from October 6.

Formed back in 2013, Original Swimming Party is an audio-visual duo, who have become known for drawing their influence from African rhythms and harmonies, and merging these with electronic and experimental sounds in order to create an entirely new style. In 2014 they released their debut EP ‘The Blue’ to critical international acclaim, including Rolling Stone Magazine, who hailed them as a “refreshing electronic experimentation, awash with surprises.”

‘Biggest Curse’ sees OST join forces with African funk vocalist, Moonchild Sanelly, who brings a new feel and vibe to their music. Moonchild Sanelly, whose own musical influences are broad, including a love of jazz from her mother’s jazz club, hip-hop from growing up around her brother’s recording studio, and kwaito, from mixing with her cousins’ dance crew. Moonchild released her debut album, ‘Rabulapha’, in 2015, and is also a poet, dancer, and fashion designer.

‘Biggest Curse’ is energetic, frantic, and altogether enticing, with Moonchild’s near hip-hop vocals almost at odds with the electronic instrumentation. It’s a track which takes a few listens to appreciate, but it’s certain to be met with acclaim.

‘Biggest Curse’ is the follow-up to OSTs track, ‘Weeping Song II’, which was taken from their first full-length album, ‘Hypergiant’, released earlier this year.
