NYA – ‘Let Go’

Barely out of her teens, Nya delighted her fans with the RnB sound of her song, ‘Round N Round’. Now the New York City-based singer is back with ‘Let Go’, and a video shot in a seaside carnival.

Produced by Brady Watt, best known for his work with Talib Kweli, Styles P, and Joey Bada$$, ‘Let Go’ has a sleek, propulsive beat, enlivened by jazzy electric piano, chimes, finger snaps, and synths. Nya’s voice is smooth and glorious, demonstrating her training, and showing her influences, which include Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra.

Nya is caught between girlhood and adulthood, as she eats cotton candy, jumps on a bouncy castle, and shoots darts at balloons. At the same time, the oject of her affection is a grown man; and she is caught between the desires of her youth and her sexual awakening: as she hands him a set of darts, it’s as if she’s also handing him her heart.

You can find out more about Nya online on her official website, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, and Soundcloud.
