Lucy Monciel & Shahed Mohseni Zonoozi – ‘Destiny’

‘Destiny’ is a collaboration between Shahed Mohseni Zonoozi, founder of InterContinental Concerts, and Lucy Monciel, and was performed for the first time during the ‘Bringing Love Show’, hosted by InterContinental Concerts.

Shahed is also an award-winning producer, with a passion for world music, while Lucy is a singer-songwriter, with very colourful music tastes. The pair dream of building a multicultural environment and worldwide acceptance of diversity, and hope to achieve this through their music. ‘Destiny’ is a world fusion electronic track, making use of duduk solos. The duduk is an ancient double-reed woodwind flute, made from apricot wood, indigenous to Armenia. Duduks are usually played in pairs, with the first playing the tune, and the second playing a steady “drone” – the combination creating a richer, more haunting sound.

‘Destiny’ takes the theme of fate, the concept that whatever you decide to give, will somehow always come back to you. The track has a trance-like feel, which is added to by Lucy Monciel’s middle eastern operatic sound.

InterContinental Concerts (ICC) began in 2011 and is a multimedia production organisation, producing music, live concerts, performance videos, and feature films. They value diversity and promote unity among all people. Their primary goal is to bring together artists from all over the world, creating unique music events and shows. They so far have worked with 145 artists from 45 countries around the world.

‘Destiny’ was composed and written by Lucy Monciel and Shahed Mohseni Zonoozi, the latter of whom also played piano and synths, and recorded and mixed the track. Mastering was by Reuben Cohen.
