Jack Shields – ‘Leaving California’

Singer songwriter, musician and producer Jack Shields comes from Connecticut, and describes his sound as “blending and bending the genres of rock, hip hop, and folk.” The video for his single, ‘Leaving California’, gives the listener a closer view into his narrative, and tells the story of who Jack Shields really is.

The video for ‘Leaving California’ tells the story of an artist who’s left the woodlands of Connecticut in search of a better life in California. The video is filled to the brim with breathtaking landscapes and deeply nostalgic visuals; the video is beautiful and makes you want to get in your car and drive away….forever.

Sadly though, at least in the song and video, California was not ever going to be a permanent escape for Shields:

The ink is on the paper and the writing’s on the wall

I got silver in my pockets and a song within my arm

I’ve got no enemies, and the ocean’s just so blue

but I’m leaving California… For YOU.
