Edge Of Paradise – ‘ALIVE’

Formed in 2011 by lead vocalist Margarita Monet and guitarist Dave Bates, Edge Of Paradise, from Los Angeles, take metal and hard rock by the horns with their new release, ‘ALIVE’, the title track from their most recent album.

Nick Ericson on drums and John Chominsky on bass make up the rest of the band, and altogether they are a powerhouse of sound. The quartet dropped their debut album, ‘Mask’ not long after their formation, and followed this with ‘Immortal Waltz’ in 2015, which demonstrated a new maturity in their sound, honed after a heavy touring year. They were empowered by this to dive back into their writing with new energy, which found its completion in their album, ‘ALIVE’.

The video for ‘ALIVE’, directed by Val Rassi, is dark and yet exhilarating, opening with Margarita striding down an alley in alternative shots of her laying on the ground. We then see she’s actually the creation of a “mad scientist”, who’s watching her on the other side of the glass in his lab. ‘ALIVE’ is hard and fast and furious, and with soaring guitar solos and powerful drums. Monet sings, “Run through my veins/Break me from chains/I wanna feel alive” and we feel her passion and desire in every word she spits out. It’s the perfect lead track to the album, introducing an overall theme of pain, and a desire to come back from its consequences.

‘ALIVE’ is available from iTunes and Amazon. You can also stream it on Spotify. Find out more about Edge Of Paradise online on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and their official website.
