Swedish/Italian Trio Emmecosta Release New EP ‘Velour’

Fashionable trio, Emmecosta, released new EP ‘Velour’ in August 2017 via Swedish music label ICEA.

Consisting of four tracks -the synths, guitar and silky vocals of ‘Miguel’ and ‘His Power Of Youth’, and the pulsing blend of synths and echoey vocals of ‘Heavy Heart’ and ‘A Mountain From Us’ – the album communicates an intoxicating yet self aware atmosphere.

Talking about ‘Velour’ Emmecosta says,

‘Velour’ is the feeling of unshakable longing for a place we’ve never been. This is a specific form of wanderlust – a craving for a distant land or a deep feeling of ‘homesickness’ for a place we have never seen. We imagine distant places through small fragments: everyday life seen elsewhere. We are going through a strange sensation of disorientation, something magical seen from far away. We fall in love with this fragment. It holds the promise for more. We move around it.

The cinematography  for the music videos of ‘Miguel’ and ‘His Power of Youth’ – filmed in seaside Positano and Scandinavian forest- perfectly complement the music and the story of the band. It reflects the melancholy and nostalgia the band have in relation to their hometown in Italy; of a craving for their old home and acceptance of the new.

Both Stereogum and Clash Magazine have praised the Positano-native trio for their music – comfortable and contemplative – it manages to live in the moment even as it reflects past memories.
