Born out of a musical experiment in North Manchester’s Boomshack Studios in early 2014, The Moods quickly gathered members and momentum. A dizzying amalgamation of producers and poets, they swiftly honed their very own sound, which, when taken live, quite simply blew their audiences away. It wasn’t long before they attracted the attention of local radio stations and journalists such as John Robb and Terry Christian.

Following a non-stop 2016 that included sell-out gigs in Glasgow and Manchester, an artist development deal was secured, debut single, ‘Joy’ released, and now the band’s tracks are included in a new movie soundtrack, the rest of 2017 is looking very good for The Moods. The 9-strong band is currently mid-way through a 10 day UK tour to promote their new single, and thrilled to announce the release of their first album Missing Peace, with a launch gig at Manchester’s historic O2 Ritz, followed by a 15 date UK tour that runs through the end of October.

Late September, sees the launch of film ‘Strangeways Here We Come’, starring Michelle Keegan, ‘No Offence’ star Elaine Cassidy, Bafta winner Lauren Socha, and former East Enders actress, Nina Wadia. Makers of the Salford-set, darkly-comic feature film chose two of The Moods’ songs for the soundtrack – Kids carry guns is featured in the opening scenes, and ‘Keep Your Powder Dry’, a new song taken from new album, graces the final stages of the film. Placement of The Moods’ tracks was a recommendation of Terry Christian, and testament to the fact that their sound captures the atmosphere of northern urban life. A major UK Film is released next year and will be shown in 30+ cinemas across UK cities.

The new single, ‘Joy’, has had a massive initial response, from regional & student radio, online stations and podcasts, and is currently being played on over 30 regional FM & Student radio stations and as far away as USA and Australia. Mixing soaring vocals, rousing strings and drum and bass, ‘Joy’ will have fans dancing in fields, on dance floors, in living rooms.
